How many South Asians do you know who is HIV positive? For most desis the answer would be "none". Does that mean there are no South Asians living with HIV? Or is it that we don't talk about it. Do we even get tested? How many of us talk with our desi friends about any STDs that someone may have got? What are the precautions we can take? How do we deal with the stigma and the silence around HIV and STDs?

We will discuss these and other questions with our fellow South Asians. This month's Chit Chat & Chaat is slightly different. In that, Trikone is partnering with a couple of organizations (APIWC and 3rd i).

We will screen a couple of films: Migration by Mira Nair and Summer in my Veins by Nish Saran.

Followed by the film screenings will be an open discussion on related issues. Lets hope this discussion will steer us towards safer sexual practices and advanced knowledge about sexual health. Let us first fight the stigma attached with it, so we can move on to fighting the disease.
